About the Role
As Research Principal, you will play a leading role in shaping Chartis Research’s analytical coverage and strategic insights across the financial risk management (FRM) landscape.
You will drive the research agenda, engage with clients and vendors, and act as a thought leader representing Chartis in discussions with senior risk, finance, and technology executives across global financial institutions.
This is a high-impact, intellectually stimulating role suited to an experienced professional with strong domain expertise in financial risk management, analytical rigour, and commercial acumen.
Key Tasks and Responsibilities

Demonstrate intellectual curiosity to understand and assess use cases spanning the full spectrum of financial risk management to help clients make informed technology and business decisions.
Sustain a reputation as a thought leader, able to discuss strategy, its application, and overarching trends shaping the market with CROs, CEOs, Senior Risk Managers, IT Managers, and CIOs/CCOs, in both small and large group settings.
Collaborate with the Research Director to define, conduct, and author research reports, including Quadrant and Ranking analyses, thought leadership papers, and market insights.
Provide data-driven decision support to technology vendors, banks, and investment firms through structured analysis and consulting.
Present research findings and strategic insights in meetings, client briefings, and conferences, acting as a trusted advisor to senior executives.
Stay current on market developments through continuous research, networking, and engagement with clients and vendors.
Contribute to internal research discussions, sharing insights and supporting the evolution of Chartis’s analytical frameworks.
Consulting & Client Engagement
Support the global sales and client engagement teams by participating in client discussions, presentations, and proposal development.
Deliver bespoke consulting engagements and advisory presentations that include competitor analysis, market trend evaluation, and technology roadmap recommendations.
Represent Chartis externally as a subject-matter expert at industry events, webinars, and briefings.
Management & Collaboration
Mentor and guide team members in their research efforts, supporting their analytical and professional development.
Ensure consistent delivery of high-quality, on-time research outputs that align with Chartis standards.
Maintain strong cross-functional collaboration within the wider Infopro Digital and Chartis ecosystem, contributing to strategic initiatives and innovation.
Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accountancy, Economics, or a related field; Master’s degree or Financial Risk Management (FRM) qualification preferred.
10+ years’ experience in financial risk management within banking, consulting, or risk technology.
Deep understanding of enterprise and regulatory risk management frameworks, including Basel/FRTB, ALM, ICAAP/ILAAP, and related regulatory initiatives.
Proven expertise with risk technology stacks — including data management, analytics, reporting, and cloud-native architectures.
Exposure to vendor ecosystems and software providers within the FRM domain.
