We are looking for a Technical Writer, reporting to the UK-based Editorial Director, to play a critical role in the creation and development of our reports and other industry publications during an exciting, high-growth period for Chartis. KEY TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Key Responsibilities

Writing Chartis reports and articles. Consulting with the editorial team and working with research analysts, you will provide first drafts from a variety of sources, including interviews, presentations and internal discussions, and help develop these into final deliverables. You will be required to work on several projects concurrently, often across different research areas.

Developing strong thought leadership content. As part of the writing process you will be required to identify, develop and write compelling, unique stories in line with Chartis’ voice in the market.

Writing copy for web articles, sales collateral and other content. You may be required to write, develop and edit copy for other departments in the business, including sales and marketing.

Ensuring consistency and impact. Working with Chartis’ editorial and production team, you will help to ensure that all deliverables meet Chartis’ standards of quality and consistency.

Editing/proofreading. At especially busy times you may also be required to assist with the editing and proofreading of reports and articles.

Requirements

Candidate Requirements

Demonstrable writer’s skill-set: an ability to write clear, well-structured reports and articles, to a high level of quality. Other required skills include editing, an ability to handle multiple concurrent projects, project management, an ability to work under pressure and to deadlines, and strong organizational skills.

Demonstrable technical skills required for the role, as well as attention to detail and a willingness and ability to broaden own knowledge.

BA degree and/or Master’s (or equivalent) in Journalism and/or Economics/Finance is highly desirable.

Experience in digital journalism and/or other business writing preferred, either in the workplace or as part of a dedicated journalism/writing degree program.

Ideally 3-5 years’ writing/editorial experience within a research or academic environment. Highly qualified recent graduates will also be considered.

Facility with data and graphics and experience with audio and/or video a plus.

Experience with Adobe InDesign and Illustrator is preferred, but not essential.

Must be highly motivated, with a clear understanding of teamwork.

A proven interest in ideas related to finance, banking, compliance or similar topics is preferred.

Must be able to accept personal responsibility/accountability for the quality and timeliness of work.

Must be able to adapt to changing business needs, conditions and work responsibilities to achieve successful results in dynamic situations.
